The Unexpected Side Effect Nobody Mentions
Two weeks in. Nine pounds down. Energy good. Mood solid.
But here’s something I didn’t expect: my fat’s gone floppy.
Not a little soft. Properly loose. Like it’s disconnected from the rest of me. I was sitting on a park bench earlier and my stomach — what’s left of it — felt like it was just sagging onto my lap.
Weird doesn’t quite cover it.
Day 14. Thursday. 13 stone 4 on the scales. That’s nine pounds lost in two weeks, and a fair chunk of that now feels like actual fat, not just water weight.
But the texture’s changed. It’s less firm, more… jiggly. Even in places I didn’t realize I carried it.
So what’s going on?
The Physical State: Energy vs Aches
Energy-wise, I’ve felt fine overall. Nothing dramatic. Just steady.
But physically? There are aches. Legs, back, sides — all reminding me they’re still working even when I’m sitting down.
Sleep’s been a bit patchy. Six hours overnight, then I grabbed another nap this afternoon. Sometimes your body just needs the extra rest when you’re fasting. No point fighting it.
Mentally, I’ve been around a seven to eight out of ten today. The naps helped. Mood’s been solid too — a good eight emotionally. No problems there.
Cravings? A few quiet murmurings. Meringues and cream (my favorite dessert) and a nice toastie. Nothing too strong. Just those little whispers in the background.
To support the fast, I got a good hour’s walking this morning. Stayed hydrated with water, Dash drinks, and black coffee. Kept up with electrolytes plus K2 and D3 vitamins.
Cannot stress this enough: electrolytes are not optional on longer fasts. They’re required.
What’s Happening to the Fat?
So back to the floppy fat thing.
I’m now sitting at 13 stone 4. That’s nine pounds lost in 14 days. Over a stone of that now is starting to feel like fat rather than just water.
And the shape’s changing. It’s looser. Less firm. More… saggy.
I was sitting on that park bench earlier and I could actually feel my stomach — even though there’s so much less of it — just sort of sitting there on me. Never had that before.
Hopefully autophagy eats the rest of it over the next few days. I’ll keep you informed.
But here’s what’s actually happening:
Your fat cells are shrinking. Your body’s using up stored energy. That’s the good bit.
The collagen and connective tissue? They take longer to tighten up. So you get this loose, jiggly stage while everything adjusts.
Over time, skin and tissue often catch up. Good hydration helps. Gentle movement helps. Patience helps.
But for now? Floppy fat is totally normal.
The Bigger Picture: Short-Term Pain, Long-Term Gain
Whatever limit you put on yourself with a fast, there’s an end goal. It’s not forever.
But the better health you achieve from this fast? That can last forever if you maintain it once the fast is finished.
A little pain now for a lot less pain in the future. All the illnesses and problems that aren’t going to happen because you took action.
That’s the trade-off.
The floppy fat’s just a reminder that the body’s letting go of what it doesn’t need.
Managing the Murmurings
If you’re feeling cravings whispering for sweet treats — meringues, cream, toasties, whatever — try a naturally sweet herbal tea after your main hydration.
Peppermint or liquorice root can feel like a treat without breaking your fast. Sometimes that tiny switch can calm the murmurings.
For me, I use Aqualibra and Dash for exactly that reason. They give me something that feels like a treat without derailing the process.
This journey’s about real health, not just weight loss.
🎯 Key Takeaways
Short-term discomfort, long-term health — The fast ends, but the health benefits can last forever
Floppy fat is normal — Fat cells shrink faster than connective tissue tightens; it’s part of the process
Nine pounds in 14 days — Over a stone of that now feels like actual fat, not just water
Electrolytes are essential — Not optional on longer fasts; they’re required to support your body
Aches are part of it — Legs, back, sides all working hard even when you’re resting

0:02Day 14 of my journey, two weeks in.
0:05Physically today, my energy’s felt fine
0:08overall, but I’ve definitely notice some
0:10aches in my legs, back, and sides
0:14where whenever I’m up and about. It’s
0:16like my body’s reminding me it’s still
0:18working hard even when I’m not sitting
0:20down. Mentally, I’ve been around a seven
0:24to eight out of 10 today, helped along
0:26by some good naps. I had about six hours
0:28of sleep overnight. Then an up this
0:30morning and then I squeezed another one
0:32in this afternoon.
0:34Whilst fasting, sometimes a bit of extra
0:36rest is exactly what the body needs.
0:41Moodwise, I’m feeling really good. Solid
0:44eight emotionally. Uh no problems on
0:46that front. There have been some
0:47cravings, merangues and cream, which is
0:50my favorite dessert. Um or a nice
0:53toasty, which is a snack I do enjoy, but
0:55nothing too strong. just those quiet
0:57little murmurings of hunger in the
0:58background.
1:01To support my fast, I got a good hours
1:03walking this morning, stayed hydrated um
1:06during the day with water, some dash
1:08drinks, and black coffee. And I’ve kept
1:10up with my electrolytes, plus K2 and D3
1:12vitamins.
1:14All of this adds up. And on the
1:16electrolytes front, I cannot stress
1:19strongly enough how much they’re
1:21required when you’re on a longer fast.
1:26I’m now sitting at 13 stones four um
1:29today. So that’s stone n pounds lost in
1:3214 days
1:35which now is starting to feel like quite
1:36a lot of that is fat. Um probably over a
1:39stone now. Um and those numbers while
1:44it’s not all about the numbers really do
1:46help make it feel worthwhile and put an
1:48inner smile in me if nothing else.
1:51One thing I’ve really noticed how my
1:52body’s changing shape. It’s feeling
1:54looser. The fat’s less firm and more
1:56floppy even in places um that I didn’t
1:59even realize I carried it. I was sitting
2:01on a park bench earlier and I could feel
2:03my stomach even though there’s so much
2:06less of it. It felt like it was just
2:10sagging a little bit and just sat on me.
2:12It was weird. Um something I’ve never
2:14really had. Hopefully over the next few
2:16days autophagy will eat that and it
2:18won’t be a problem. Um I’ll keep you
2:20informed on that. Um, but it’s a
2:23reminder that the body’s letting go of
2:25what it doesn’t need.
2:28Something I’d like to say to myself or
2:30to anyone else that’s on this journey is
2:35whatever limit you put on yourself
2:38with a fast, there’s an end goal and
2:41it’s not forever.
2:44But the better health that we achieve
2:46from this fast can last forever if we
2:49maintain it.
2:52once the fast is finished. So, it’s a
2:55little pain now for a lot less pain in
2:58the future with all the illnesses and
3:00things that aren’t going to go wrong for
3:02us.
3:06It’s worth remembering that the floppy
3:08fat that I mentioned is actually a sign
3:10your fat cells are shrinking. Your
3:12body’s using up stored energy, but the
3:14collagen and connective tissues take
3:17longer to tighten up. So loose or jiggly
3:20bits now
3:22totally normal. Over time, skin and
3:25tissue often adjust and good hydration,
3:28gentle movement, and patience all help.
3:33If you’re feeling cravings, whispering
3:35for sweet treats like merangues and
3:37cream,
3:38try a naturally sweet herbal tea after
3:41your main hydration. Peppermint or
3:44licorice root can feel like a treat
3:46without breaking your fast.
3:49Sometimes that tiny switch can just help
3:52calm the murmurings. For me, I use
3:54Aqualibra and Dash for that exact thing.
3:59Remember, this journey is about real
4:01health, not just about weight loss.
