The Allergy Breakthrough I Didn’t See Coming
Eighteen months ago, I couldn’t stand in my own garden without itching, wheezing, and reaching for my inhaler.
Today? I spent over an hour outside with the neighbour’s cat, surrounded by Timothy grass — the very thing that used to trigger every allergy symptom I had.
Not a single twitch. No rash. No breathlessness. No cetirizine. No ventolin.
This is Day 18, and something’s shifted.
Where I’m At Physically
13 stone 1 pound this morning. That’s one pound away from five stone lost since my heaviest point 18 months ago.
Physical energy sits at a solid seven out of 10. Not bouncing off the walls, but doing fine. Mentally? My head’s buzzing — really alert. I’d call it an eight, maybe eight and a half.
Hunger’s been quieter today than it was on Days 16 and 17. Sleep helped reset things. Mood’s been level — no major ups or downs, just steady.
Nothing dramatic making this easier or harder. Just… steady progress.
What Disappeared (And What That Means)
Here’s what used to happen when I went near grass, cats, or pollen:
- Itching and rashes
- Barely able to breathe
- Reaching for my ventolin inhaler
- Taking my beclomethasone preventer
- Popping cetirizine daily
Here’s what happened today after an hour outside with Timothy grass and a cat:
Nothing.
Zero symptoms. No medication needed.
My allergies have all but vanished. My asthma seems to have gone. My hay fever hasn’t shown up all year.
That’s not just weight loss. That’s autophagy in action.
Autophagy: Your Body’s Deep Clean
When you fast, your body literally cleans out damaged cells and makes you more resilient.
Think of it like this: your immune system’s been running on autopilot for decades, trying to fight off threats while also dealing with accumulated cellular rubbish. Fasting gives it time to sort the wheat from the chaff — clear out what’s broken, repair what’s salvageable, and become sharper at spotting real threats versus false alarms.
It’s your immune system getting a spa day.
Except instead of cucumber slices and aromatherapy, it’s getting rid of senescent cells, recycling damaged proteins, and recalibrating inflammation responses.
The result? I can stand in a field of grass that would’ve hospitalised me 18 months ago, and my body doesn’t even notice.
The Support System
What I’m doing to keep myself steady:
- Hydration: Lots of Aqualibra, water, black coffee
- Electrolytes: Keeping sodium, potassium, magnesium topped up
- Vitamins: D3 and K2 daily
- Movement: Gentle walks (including that hour-long garden session)
The only real challenge? Food smells. They’re always lurking, trying to tempt me.
I’m getting behttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GUFfamwETHo&pp=0gcJCRUKAYcqIYzvtter at letting them drift by without giving in.
Except bacon. I’m still actively hunting down bacon smells. Can’t help it. It’s still a great smell.
The Trade-Off Worth Making
Nobody said this would be easy.
Food smells will tease you. Hunger will show up now and then. Your brain will try to convince you that one bite won’t hurt.
But here’s the trade-off:
Pain now versus dealing with some nasty illness down the line.
You’re not just losing weight. You’re becoming years — possibly decades — younger on the inside.
Your immune system’s recalibrating. Your inflammation’s dropping. Your body’s repairing damage you didn’t even know was there.
That’s not hype. That’s what’s happening when you give your body the space to do what it’s designed to do.
🎯 Key Takeaways
The trade-off matters — Short-term discomfort beats long-term illness
Allergies vanished — Over an hour outside with grass and cat, zero symptoms (previously would have needed inhaler + antihistamines)
Weight progress — 13 stone 1 pound, one pound away from 5 stone total loss
Autophagy at work — Fasting gives your immune system time to clear damaged cells and recalibrate
Mental clarity up — 8-8.5/10, head buzzing with alertness
Hunger more subdued — Sleep reset helped lower hunger signals compared to previous days

0:01Hey everyone, it’s day 18 of my journey
0:03today. Physically, I’m feeling a good
0:06solid seven out of 10. Not bouncing off
0:09the walls, but doing fine. Mentally, my
0:12head’s buzzing, really alert, so I’d say
0:15a solid eight, maybe even an eight and a
0:16half.
0:18Hunger’s been more subdued than it was
0:21yesterday and the day before. So, that’s
0:23huge. Um, sleep did help with that. Mood
0:27wise, felt quite level today. No major
0:29ups or downs, just steady. And honestly,
0:32there’s been nothing dramatic making
0:34things easier or harder today. It’s been
0:36good.
0:39To support myself, I’ve kept my
0:41hydration up with lots of Aqualibra,
0:43water, black coffee, and electrolytes.
0:45I’ve also taken my D3 and K2 vitamins,
0:47so all the essentials are covered. No
0:50big challenges, although the smells of
0:52food are always lurking trying to tempt
0:54me. But I am getting better at just
0:56letting them left by without giving in.
1:00Except for bacon. Bacon I’m having to
1:03hunt down and go sniff at. It’s still a
1:07great smell. Um on the scale front, I’m
1:10down to 13 stone, one pound. So one
1:13pound off five stone lost since I was at
1:15my heaviest 18 months ago,
1:17which is amazing. Um
1:20and even better, I’m really even better
1:24today. I spent over an hour outside um
1:26with the neighbor’s cat in Timothy grass
1:30um at the back of our garden
1:3218 months ago. That would have had me
1:34itching in rashes, hardly able to
1:37breathe, reaching for my ventil, my
1:39beet, taking my citriine.
1:43Today, not a twitch, nothing.
1:49so happy about the fact that my
1:51allergies have all but disappeared at
1:53the moment. My asthma seems to have also
1:56and my hay fever has. I haven’t had any
1:59of them all year, which is quite
2:02incredible.
2:05This autophagy in action when you fast,
2:08your body’s literally cleaning out all
2:10the damaged cells and making you more
2:12resilient. It’s like giving your immune
2:15system a spa day.
2:18So, while the food smells might tease
2:21you now,
2:23think about the tradeoff.
2:26You’re becoming years,
2:29possibly decades younger on the inside.
2:33So, to my future self or anyone watching
2:36this going through this journey,
2:37remember, nobody said this would be
2:39easy. But the pain now is far far better
2:44than dealing with some nasty illness
2:46down the line. Keep going. This is real
2:50health,
2:52not just a number on a scale. It’s so
2:54much more than that.
