Nine hours of sleep. After a two-hour disaster the night before, I finally got nine straight hours. And when I woke up, I just lay there thinking: that’s what reset feels like.
Day 42. Last day of Week 6. An eating day with a three-and-a-half-hour window. But here’s the thing nobody tells you about recovery: it doesn’t happen on a schedule. It happens in stages you don’t expect. Yesterday was rough — two hours of broken sleep after a medical procedure, body still sensitive, water retention making everything feel heavy and off. But today? Something shifted. For the first time since the op, things are working properly again.
When Sleep Finally Returns After Recovery
Mood hit an 8. Energy hit an 8. Mental clarity — solid 8 across the board.
I didn’t exercise. The heavens opened and never stopped. I woke to sunshine, was about to head out for a gentle walk, and then grey. All day grey. But you know what? I’ll take it. Because sleep changes everything.
For the first time since the procedure, the body’s doing what it’s supposed to do. Water retention should finally start coming down. The signals are there: mood, energy, clarity — all back online.
Day 42: The Numbers
Eating window: Quarter to one until quarter past four (3.5 hours)
Calories: 957
Protein: 42 grams
Fibre: 28 grams
Plant variety: 28 different plants
I kept it simple:
- Rye crackers with pâté and cheese
- A big bowl of spinach and carrot soup (22 plant points in that alone)
- Half a Basa Amok parcel with coconut rice and pak choi
Short eating window, nutrient-dense choices. That’s the rhythm.
What Day 42 Taught Me
You can’t out-discipline bad sleep. But when the sleep comes back, everything else follows. Energy, clarity, mood — they’re all downstream of rest.
If your body’s recovering, let it recover. The walk can wait. The sunshine will return.
Week 6 complete. That’s 42 days of tracking, documenting, and showing up — whether the day was brilliant or brutal.
Process over perfection. Every single day.
🎯 Key Takeaways
- Nine hours of sleep transformed everything — mood, energy, and clarity all hit 8/10 after two hours the night before
- Recovery happens in unexpected stages — your body doesn’t work on a spreadsheet timeline
- Sleep is upstream of everything else — you can’t discipline your way past poor rest
- 28 plant points in 957 calories — short eating window doesn’t mean nutritional compromise

Nine hours.
After the two-hour disaster the night before, I slept for nine straight hours. Woke up and just lay there for a moment, thinking: That’s what reset feels like.
