Sometimes Easy Days Just Happen
Day six of my refeed. And honestly? It’s been genuinely smooth.
No drama. No battles with cravings. No digestive chaos. Just a solid, steady day where everything ticked over nicely.
I slept 7½ hours straight. Woke up full of energy. No aches or pains. Mentally and emotionally stable all day. Digestion right on track — two bowel movements, no excess hunger, everything functioning as it should.
Mood was good from morning till night. Not euphoric highs or crushing lows. Just steady contentment. And if I’m honest, that’s actually quite refreshing after weeks of tracking every shift and signal.
There’s been nothing of consequence to make the day easier or harder. No cravings. No tricky social situations. No stress to speak of. Sometimes you just get these days where it all feels quite effortless.
And instead of questioning it, I’m learning to accept it.
The Physical Markers
Sleep quality: Solid. 7½ hours uninterrupted.
Energy levels: Full from the moment I woke up. No mid-afternoon crashes.
Digestion: Two bowel movements. No bloating. No discomfort. Just normal, healthy function.
Aches and pains: None. Completely absent.
When you’re coming off an extended fast, these markers matter more than the numbers on the scale. Your body’s recalibrating. Everything from gut flora to nutrient absorption is shifting back into fed-state mode.
And that process doesn’t always show up on the bathroom scales.
The Mental Game
Mood stability is one of those things you don’t notice until it’s there.
No real highs or lows today. Just steady. Even. Calm.
No cravings for the usual suspects — biscuits, cakes, sweets. I’m genuinely grateful for that. The edge to overeat is still present, but I’ve managed to stay clear of the sugary stuff. That’s some form of win.
Fullness awareness has been sharp today. I noticed when I was satisfied. And I actually stopped eating.
That’s not a small thing. For decades, I didn’t register fullness until I was uncomfortably stuffed. Now I’m catching it earlier. Mid-meal. Before the plate’s empty.
That’s progress.
What I Actually Ate
I kept things homemade and nourishing:
- Red pepper vegetable soup
- Tomato soup
- Nuts and seeds with yogurt (mid-afternoon)
- Mediterranean tray bake for tea (small portion — I was genuinely full)
No ultra-processed foods. No sugar. No junk.
Everything was whole, real, and easy on the digestive system. That’s the refeed strategy — gentle reintroduction of nutrients without overwhelming the gut.
I also took a gentle walk in the sun. Hydration’s been a focus, though I’ve noticed water hasn’t been my go-to for a few days. Instead, I’ve been enjoying Dash Nakal Libra (a flavoured option that keeps me hydrated without forcing plain water).
The Numbers (And Why They Don’t Tell The Full Story)
Weight: Up by 1 pound — 13 stone 8
Measurements: Unchanged
No big surprises there. Refeed days often bring fluctuations. Your gut flora starts to rebalance. Nutrient absorption improves. Glycogen stores refill. Water retention shifts.
All of that can cause temporary weight increases that have nothing to do with fat gain.
Here’s the thing: your body doesn’t run on a spreadsheet.
During refeed, digestive recalibration is completely normal. If you focus only on the numbers, you’ll miss the internal signals that matter more:
- Fullness — Am I noticing when I’m satisfied?
- Energy — Do I feel fuelled or fatigued?
- Mood — Am I stable or swinging between extremes?
Today, all three were solid. The numbers can catch up later.
Trusting The Process
One thought I’ve been sitting with today: It’s okay to let easy days be easy.
For years, I’ve been conditioned to believe that progress requires struggle. That if something feels effortless, I must be doing it wrong.
But that’s nonsense.
Some days are hard. Some days are easy. Neither invalidates the work.
During refeed, your gut flora rebalances. Nutrient absorption improves. Appetite signals recalibrate. And all of that can cause fluctuations in weight, energy, and hunger.
That’s the process. You don’t control it. You trust it.
And today, I’m trusting it.
🎯 Key Takeaways
Fullness awareness is a skill — Noticing satisfaction mid-meal takes practice
Easy days happen — Accept them instead of questioning them
Gut flora rebalances during refeed — Weight fluctuations are normal
Internal signals matter more than numbers — Fullness, energy, mood tell the real story
Avoiding sugar during refeed is progress — Not giving in to cravings is a win

0:42Sometimes you just get these days where
0:44it all feels quite effortless.
0:47To support my refeed and recovery, I
0:49took a gentle walk in the sun, which
0:51always feels good. Hydration’s been a
0:53focus, though I have noticed that water
0:56hasn’t really been my go-to for a few
0:58days. Instead, I have been enjoying Dash
1:00Nakal Libra. Um, quality sleep has
1:03definitely helped me as well. No
1:06challenges or temptations, no battles
1:08with biscuits, cakes, or sweets, which
1:10I’m honestly grateful for. Um, for food
1:13today, I kept things homemade and
1:15nourishing soups. Um, I had a red
1:17pepper, vegetable one, and a tomato. Um,
1:21I had some nuts and seeds with yogurt
1:23mid-afternoon and tea was a
1:25Mediterranean trick tray bake. I kept
1:28this portion small as I was genuinely
1:30full and I was aware of it and noticed
1:32it. On the number side, weighs up by a
1:35pound 13 stone eight, but measurements
1:37are unchanged. No big surprises there
1:39really.
1:41One thing I’ve noticed during refeed is
1:43that the edge to overeat is still here,
1:46but I’m managed to stay clear of the
1:48usual sugary stuff. So that’s some form
1:50of win. I’ll take it.
1:53Nothing to say going forward to myself
1:56today. Just acknowledging that sometimes
1:58easy days come along and it’s okay to
2:01accept them and just let them be easy.
2:05Thought during refeed your body’s got
2:07flora starts to rebalance and nutrient
2:09absorption improves which can cause some
2:12fluctuations in weight and appetite.
2:15That’s completely normal as your
2:16digestive system recalibrates.
2:20Try not to get hung up on the numbers
2:21and instead focus on the internal
2:23singers signals like fullness, energy,
2:26and mood. If you like this video, please
